California Case Study

Appian has committed substantial resources to developing a viable Violation Enforcement System (VES) for Electronic Tolling applications. We have been contracted to a major Systems Integrator in California proving the use of Talon as a VES tool and integrating our system with the main Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system. The system has been rolled-out at a number of sites in Southern California covering a total of 20 ETC lanes.

The application operates by the tolling system interrogating a vehicle and finding that it is not tagged or it has no credits remaining on the in car unit. A message can then be sent to Talon causing it to identify the licence plate number and to take a supporting picture. This can provide evidence to take action against the offending vehicle.
