Mexico City Police select Appian's Talon ALPR technology

Appian Technology plc the provider of Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems ('ALPR') and traffic management products and solutions, has won a contract through a competitive international tender to supply Mexico City's police force with its Talon ALPR technology. 

The first phase of the contract, which is to equip 11 police vehicles with Talon, is valued at GBP125,000.   In subsequent phases of the contract, Talon will be installed at a number of city centre static sites and fully integratedinto Mexico City's existing CCTV system.  There will be a major expansion in mobile ALPR capability with multiple additional systems supplied to the policeover the next 18 months.

As well as assisting the police in tackling Mexico City's vehicle crime problems, the Company's ALPR system will also be used in intelligence operations against serious and organised crime.  The contract was won in conjunction with a local integration partner who will install the mobile systems on behalf ofAppian and then maintain and support the Mexico City police force.
