Directors and Committees

 Pat Ryan

Pat Ryan is Executive Chairman and CEO. He is responsible for the management of the group and together with the board its strategic direction. Pat is also the Chairman of National Avionics Limited. He has private venture capital interests with an emphasis on early stage and developing businesses and has business experience in developing technology businesses.

Tony Price

Anthony (Tony) George Price, joined Appian as Operations Director in February 2007 and continues in this role as a member of the Board.  Tony has been responsible for the delivery of complex ANPR systems to the Company's global customer base and has updated quality management systems He is a member of the Chartered Management Institute, accredited as a Prince 2 Project Manager practitioner and holds a post graduate diploma in strategic business management.  Prior to this he served in the British Army for 22 years before his retirement as a Regimental Sergeant Major in 2006.  Predominantly operating in a reconnaissance role, Mr. Price gained extensive practical experience in communications and information systems management, command and control and logistics management.

Adrian Cadd

Adrian Cadd will take over as head of all sales and marketing with overall responsibility for delivering sales for the Company worldwide. Having joined Appian in January 2006 as an Account Manager, he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland in September 2006 and is responsible for Appian's strong success in this region.  Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Cadd served as a police officer for 14 years with a UK constabulary, where he gained experience investigating serious and organised crime, and used ANPR technology in an operational capacity to prevent and detect crime. 

Fred Newton

Fred Newton, a former Assistant Chief Constable, was appointed to Appian's Board in September 2002 following his retirement from the police service after 33 years' service. As National Co-ordinator of Ports Policing for the UK he was involved with counter-terrorism at ports involving the application of ANPR technology, and, in particular the development of network integration of both fixed sites and mobile systems. He was awarded the Queen's Police Medal for services to Ports Policing in the 2000 New Year's Honours List and was at one time the Senior Investigating Officer of the Lockerbie Air Disaster.

Peter Coyle

Peter Coyle holds a master's degree in economics and has extensive international negotiating and business development experience. As an Executive Director of the Irish Government's industrial development agency, he was responsible for all global trade development beyond Europe and has deep experience of negotiations at the highest levels in international business and government. He has led and actively participated in a successful programme to actively scale up high potential technology businesses and provide strategic advice and guidance to them at chief executive officer and board level.

 

Remuneration Committee

The remuneration committee consists of the two non-executive Directors. It meets as required during the year. The committee determines the remuneration and benefits of the executive Directors

 

Audit Committee

The audit committee consists of the two non-executive Directors. The other Directors attend by invitation. It meets as required during the year, at least once with the Group's external auditors. Its role is to review the interim and final financial statements for approval by the Board, to ensure that appropriate financial and operating controls are functioning properly and to provide the forum through which the Group's external auditors report to the Board.
