Appian wins three new contracts totalling £402,000

Appian has won three new contracts totalling £402,000 to install fixed site ANPR systems with two new commercial customers and a UK metropolitan police force.

The Company has won a £174,000 order for its ANPR technology to be used at a large shopping centre in the London area, where it will monitor and record all vehicle movement in all car-parks on this extensive retail site. Following a competitive tender process, Appian has also won a £123,000 contract from a large county council in the south of England, to install ANPR technology at the entrance to a number of local council household waste sites. The system, which works by recording all number plates at every site and then automatically alerting the site operators if a vehicle exceeds set visitor frequency limits, will be used to detect 'trade' abuse of council waste and refuse sites. Additionally, Appian has won a £105,000 order for nine of its recently developed Stinger intelligent ANPR cameras, which will be installed at fixed sites in a London borough and used by the police and other security agencies to monitor vehicle movement.

Appian Chairman Pat Ryan said, "These commercial orders represent new applications for our ANPR technology. This is an area where we are keen to consolidate and push further into as it represents a key growth opportunity. With two new excellent reference customers we hope that our technology will be as successfully taken up in the commercial arena as it has by the UK police, which continue to order additional equipment from us."

Appian Technology are proud to announce the launch of their revolutionary STINGER Intelligent ALPR Camera

The
Stinger Intelligent Automatic License Plate Recognition Camera has
cameras, illuminator and processor all fully integrated in a single
sealed unit offering ease and simplicity of installation and operation.

The Stinger recognises vehicle
license plates then sends results using its integral communication
interfaces. Options include GSM/GPRS or 3G, and 802.911g WLAN and
100Mbps Ethernet.

Camera components are
based on Appian’s high performance Cobra Camera. Customers can select a
range of camera and IR illumination options offering unmatched
flexibility, including dual cameras and long range illumination
options. Optical zoom means the Stinger system can be optimised to suit
differing plate and environmental conditions at ALPR capture points.
All camera settings can be controlled and adjusted remotely in real
time.

The robust processor is designed to
operate in harsh environmental conditions including extreme temperature
fluctuations. The processor is capable of handling up to 4 separate
video inputs, each Stinger has the capability to connect and process
imagery from a ‘slave’ Cobra dual ALPR camera.

The
choice of Intel processor and Windows OS offers great flexibility;
additional electronic sensors, devices and applications can be readily
integrated. These include DSRC/RFID, speed and red light detection
devices - all connected to and controlled by Stinger.

Stinger
requires minimal installation and its discreet appearance has little
impact on the environment, making it the ideal stand alone ALPR
surveillance system.

Stinger will be displayed at the IFSEC show on the Appian Stand – 3081- Hall 6.

Further Orders from UK Police Forces

Appian
Technology plc, the AIM listed provider of Automatic Number Plate
Recognition systems ('ALPR') and traffic management products, has
signed two new orders totalling £377,000. Appian is to provide
fixed-site CCTV based ALPR systems to a UK police force in the south
west of England and to equip a national police force with its mobile
ALPR systems.

The
fixed-site ALPR order, valued at £212,000, is phase three of a
contract, which began in August 2005 and has proved very successful in
reducing crime levels and ‘driving criminals off the road’. Appian has
performed well in the CCTV market, where it can superimpose and bolt on
its ALPR technology into existing CCTV systems. Appian expects the
final phase of this contract to be agreed in the near future.

The
mobile ALPR order was won by Genesis UK, a wholly owned subsidary of
Appian Technology plc, and is valued at £165,000. This is for 13 mobile
ALPR systems to an existing customer, a national policing agency
responsible for the UK’s nuclear infrastructure security. The systems
will be installed into vehicles to use for mobile ALPR patrolling.

Appian
Chairman Pat Ryan said, “Both these new contracts are with existing UK
clients, who have been very happy with the high quality of previously
supplied ALPR systems and our outstanding post sales service and
support, demonstrating our leading position in the market.”
